"Teaching sustainability through the arts"
Inner City Motion Picture Arts Crafts and Trades (IMPACT).
A green jobs training program for people ages 14 and up especially designed to attract students from the underserved communities, with a special outreach to veterans.
Students will be involved in Casa Verde, a model green demonstration home project. The historic Harrison House, where famous entertainers lived during segregation will be restored to its original state under the auspices of the US Green Building Council to become a model for energy efficiency to promote residential energy upgrades in a distressed neighborhood where people need it the most. Casa Verde will be video taped by the students for television rebroadcast. It is anticipated that the documentary will be suitable for airing on PBS. Students will document their work which will include working in the garden, solar panels installation, solar water heaters, windows, insulation, building envelope and more.
